The Galleria Civica G. Segantini in Arco presents an exhibition dedicated to Gianni Caproni, pioneer of Italian aviation, on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of his birth and the 70th anniversary of his death.
Aerovita. Futurist aeropainting and Gianni Caproni: machine, aesthetics and myth offers a journey between art and aviation, exploring the relationship between technological innovation and 20th century culture.
The exhibition explores the connection between futurist aeropainting and the myth of flight linked to Gianni Caproni, through a path that combines artworks, documents and historical models.
More than fifty works from important national collections are on display, created by leading figures of Futurism such as Balla, Depero, Tato, Fillia and Benedetta Cappa Marinetti, alongside materials that illustrate Caproni’s vision and legacy.
The exhibition unfolds across five thematic sections, guiding visitors through aviation achievements, new visual perspectives and increasingly abstract artistic interpretations, offering a comprehensive view of the experience of flight between art and innovation.
From depictions of life on the aerial front to more visionary and cosmic inspirations, the exhibition conveys the enthusiasm and innovative tension of an era in which flight became a symbol of progress and freedom.
A narrative that intertwines art, science and history, offering insight into a period that transformed not only technology but also the way we perceive and represent the world, while paying tribute to one of Arco’s most distinguished figures and his passion for flight and art.
