This is the largest protected area in Trentino, covering more than 600 km² between the Brenta Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Adamello and Presanella mountain groups.
The landscape changes quickly with altitude: from conifer forests to alpine meadows and rocky environments shaped by glaciers and water.
The Sarca River originates here, flowing through Val Rendena, carving the Limarò gorge, crossing the Valle dei Laghi and eventually reaching Lake Garda.
Biodiversity is one of the park’s key features. You may spot chamois, deer and roe deer, as well as birds of prey. The brown bear, the park’s symbol, is also present and reflects the balance of this environment.
In 2015, the park became a UNESCO Global Geopark thanks to its geological diversity and numerous geosites, places that help explain the landscape and its history.
It’s an area to explore with care: responsible behaviour helps preserve a fragile and still largely wild environment.
Starting from Stenico, you can reach Val d’Algone, one of the wildest and most unspoilt valleys in the Adamello Brenta Nature Park.
