One of the most remarkable duos in Italian jazz today, Fabrizio Bosso on trumpet and Julian Oliver Mazzariello on piano bring original interpretations of the repertoire of the Neapolitan songwriter Pino Daniele.
Their musical partnership offers a fresh and intimate portrait, reimagining already iconic music with new and authentic colours. Through their sound and sensitivity, they give new life to extraordinary melodies with the tone and poetry of two outstanding figures of contemporary jazz.
The programme Il cielo è pieno di stelle, inspired by the lyrics of Mal di te, spans a wide selection of songs, from the timeless Napule è (1977) and the energetic Je so’ pazzo (1979) to the evocative Quanno chiove (1980), as well as later works such as Quando (1992) and Allora sì and Sicily (1993), the latter originally created with jazz legend Chick Corea.
The project has also become an album, recorded at the historic Splash Recording Studio in Naples.
