Summer in the provincial castles with the Dicastelincastello 2026 programme

Music, theatre, cinema, historical re-enactments and live performances: a programme of events that, from July to September, transforms each castle into a vibrant place, set within a historical and natural landscape of extraordinary beauty. Follow the thread of enchantment!

The art of falconry
As part of the summer programme DiCASTELinCASTELLO, from Saturday, July 11 to Sunday, August 23, every weekend at Castel Stenico is dedicated to the art of falconry.
In the Middle Ages, falconry was one of the favourite activities of nobles and guests who frequented the summer residence of the prince-bishops of Trento, as also depicted in the frescoes of the Falcon Tower at Buonconsiglio Castle.
Falconers and the training of birds of prey will inspire the seven weekends from Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12 to Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23 of the DiCASTELinCASTELLO programme, curated by the Centro Servizi Culturali Santa Chiara. During these weekends, skilled falconers and their birds of prey will perform at Castel Stenico.
Throughout the day, three demonstrations will take place at 11:00 am, 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Visitors will be introduced to the birds of prey found in our region, unfortunately at risk of extinction due to ongoing threats from humans and the environment.
Falconry is the art of hunting with falcons, with very ancient origins. The first evidence comes from an area of Central Asia between China and Mongolia. From there it spread to Europe and Asia Minor. In Italy, falconry arrived both through Sicily, brought by Arabs and Normans, and from Germany.
The greatest representative of Italian falconry was Emperor Frederick II of the Holy Roman Empire. In the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, falconry was not only practiced by lords and ladies, but also by bishops and abbots.
Historical re-enactment fee: €3 in addition to the museum entrance ticket.
InCanto a Castello
As part of the summer programme DiCASTELinCASTELLO, from July 12 to September 6, the magic of Trentino choral singing accompanies visitors on a musical journey through some of the most fascinating castles in the region. In a perfect synergy between music and architecture, the summer programme transforms Trentino’s castles into open-air stages, where the purity of polyphonic and traditional voices illuminates summer afternoons. Curated by the Federazione Cori del Trentino.
