Dromaè is among the most beautiful places in the Ledro Valley, especially in late spring. Green meadows, unparalleled views of the lake, wild flowers with historical traces make the route truly spectacular.
Pink peonies and white daffodils fill the slopes of Dromaè from May to early June. The peonies grow along the botanical path, while daffodils are concentrated in the meadows above the casinei, the huts used by Mezzolago inhabitants during the summer. In addition to these flowers, there are also mountain orchids, more difficult to spot.
The viewpoint of Dromaè is an exceptional panoramic point over the Ledro Valley. On a clear day, the eye can sweep from Adamello to Lake Garda, from Tremalzo to Monte Corno. The trenches and tunnels along the route date back to the First World War, when the Ledro Valley was the front between the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Kingdom of Italy.

The Austro-Hungarian Path starts from the viewpoint and leads to the casinei of Dromaè. Along the path, the huts and trenches where Austrian soldiers spent the years of the war can be seen. It is a nice alternative to the forest road.

You start from the church and go up along the main road of the village. You walk for a short stretch on the forest road and turn left to take the botanical path. The signs along the route provide information on the trees, flowers, and plants of Dromaè. At the end of the botanical path, you return to the forest road and go up to the viewpoint. From there, the road goes down for a short stretch and then goes up again to the casinei. You return to Mezzolago following the forest road.
The Ledro Valley is connected to Riva del Garda by the extra-urban bus line 214 (Riva-Valle di Ledro-Storo).

Mountain hikes require specific clothing and equipment. Even for relatively short and easy outings, it is always better to be well equipped to avoid unpleasant surprises and to cope with unexpected events such as sudden thunderstorms or loss of energy.
What to bring for a mountain trekking?
In the backpack (for a day hike usually a 25/30L is recommended) it is advisable to bring:
Wear shoes suitable for the route and season. The trail surface may be irregular or uneven and a pair of hiking boots will protect you from sprains. A grassy slope, a rock slab, or a steep path, if wet, can become dangerous without appropriate footwear.
Lastly... don’t forget the camera! It will be useful to capture the hike and the countless breathtaking views that Garda Trentino hides around every corner. If you want to share your memories with us, you can use the hashtag #GardaTrentino
