The Valley of Silence
Val Lomasona is a narrow, peaceful valley in the municipality of Comano Terme, stretching north to south between the Giudicarie Esteriori and the Garda Trentino area. This small valley is a mosaic of meadows, woods, wetlands, and cultivated fields, creating a vibrant landscape ideal for relaxing walks surrounded by nature’s quiet.
A quiet that’s not about complete silence, but rather the absence of artificial noise. The only sounds you’ll hear are those of the natural world—birds calling, leaves rustling, water trickling—making this valley feel truly timeless.
A precious natural treasure worth protecting
As you head further into the valley, you’ll come across the Lomasona Peat Bog: a Special Area of Conservation and Provincial Nature Reserve covering around 25 hectares, nestled beneath towering rock walls.
This is a rare, well-preserved peatland habitat, home to a variety of amphibians, reptiles, and protected bird species, many of which are now in decline and can only be found in select alpine areas.
A visit here offers not only tranquillity, but the chance to connect with a delicate and extraordinary ecosystem, still thriving in the heart of Trentino.
