In its first edition, Teatro Musicale Garda Trentino aims to enrich the cultural offer of the area by promoting new productions that bring together music, voice and storytelling.
For its debut, the project pays tribute to Bertolt Brecht on the 70th anniversary of his death, presenting The Threepenny Opera (Die Dreigroschenoper), a masterpiece of 20th century musical theatre written in 1928 with music by Kurt Weill.
Set in an imagined London populated by ambiguous and marginal characters, the work explores a world where the line between legality and crime becomes blurred, addressing universal themes such as power, money and hypocrisy that remain highly relevant today.
The music, blending cabaret, jazz and song, does not simply accompany the action but comments on it, creating an innovative and engaging theatrical language.
The performance is presented as a concert version featuring the Camerata Musicale Città di Arco, conducted by Martino Ruggero Dondi.
The songs are performed in the original German by Mirjam Gruber, Michael Feichter, Alberto Marcello and Ginevra Salvaggio, with actress Erica Zambelli guiding the audience through the story in Italian.
The project is conceived and realised under the artistic direction of Nicola Ulivieri.
