Variant of the 743. Bocca di Tovo Trail-Tour. Short, intense trail that reduces the total distance by 8 km.

Signage: 743b. Variante Rancion - Trail

After 16.5 km, at the hamlet of Rancion, a forest road branches off to the left then turns into a trail. It’s steep and some of it is loose gravel, but it’s very manageable for experienced cyclists.

Safety guidelines

ITRS - International Trail Rating System

The ITRS is an objective way to assess trails and routes from a biker’s perspective, evaluating four aspects:

  • Technical Difficulty: riding skill level needed
  • Endurance: combined effect of length, uphill and downhill
  • Wilderness: amount of planning required based on mobile phone reception, rescue options, water supply and wildlife
  • Exposure: consequences of a fall

Directions

When you come to Ranciom, the signpost points you onto a forest road you will find on your left. A gentle downhill run at first, it gradually gets steeper with lots of loose rocks which really interfere with steering. Following the main trail you will come to a fence where you keep to the left and ride around it, keeping it on your right. Follow directions to Vandrino where you rejoin the main tour.

public transportation

The main towns in Garda Trentino - Riva del Garda, Arco, Torbole sul Garda, Nago – are connected by several urban and intercity bus lines which will take you to the starting point of tours or in the immediate surroundings.
