In the heart of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park between Rifugio Ghedina and Malga Nambi, passing by the ancient glassworks.
From a naturalistic point of view, Val d’Algone offers an extraordinary richness of tree, shrub, and herbaceous species. The fauna is varied and enjoys large uncontaminated spaces: roe deer can be observed in the valley floor and at the edges of numerous clearings, chamois frequent the rocky slopes of Cima Vallon and Castello dei Camosci, and marmots are commonly found in Val di Sacco.

Difficulty: E (hiking)
Loop walk in the valley floor of Val Algone, searching for traces of the valley's past use: meadows and haylofts, alpine pastures, and the glass industry. From Stenico drive to Val Algone and follow it up to the Albergo Brenta, where the asphalt ends. Leave the car in the parking lot and take the path that climbs on the right side of the hotel into the woods, reaching a forest road. Continue right, ascending the forest road that rises through the woods along the edge of meadows once mowed and now partially reforested. Along the ascent, the edge of a debris deposit linked to historical quartz mining for glass production in the valley between 1800 and 1880 is passed, evidenced by the ruins of the glassworks located near Rifugio Ghedina. Beyond the quarry, continue through the woods to emerge in the pasture of Malga Nambi (refreshment spot in summer), dotted with monumental beeches. During the grazing season, the alpine pasture offers farm stay and refreshment services. From the alpine pasture, continue by descending right along the main valley floor road; shortly after the bridge over the Algone stream, take the SAT 333 path descending on the right, passing through Valle di Stenico into the meadows of Vallon, a former alpine pasture now used as a summer camp. Back on the main road, the SAT markers are abandoned to climb the road to the left for about 150 meters, where there is a fork with a park trail that leads along the stony riverbed of the stream. After crossing the dry riverbed, continue through the woods to exit at the former pasture of Malga Stabli, once a spring and autumn pasture for the herds headed to Malga Valagola and now used as a camp. About 200 m after entering the meadow, a small road descends right toward the streambed, crosses it with a bridge, and leads to the ruins of the former glassworks, located near Rifugio Ghedina. Return to Malga Stabli by the outbound path; once back in the meadow, continue right; shortly after the alpine stable, turn left toward the Thun trail of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park. After a loop in the woods, the trail re-enters the road; turn left then right to reach the paved valley floor road. Follow it uphill for about 400 m; shortly before entering the meadows, take the forest road that climbs through the woods on the left, heading north. Continue ascending along the edge of the meadows until you find the path taken at the start, along which you return to the car.
From Ponte Arche/Comano Terme continue by car to Stenico and take the provincial road toward Ragoli until the turnoff for Val d’Algone. After about 7 km of asphalt road, you arrive at Albergo Brenta.
Free parking at Albergo Brenta.
Mountain excursions require specific clothing and equipment. Even on relatively short and easy outings, it is always better to be well equipped to avoid unpleasant surprises and to face unexpected events such as a sudden storm or a drop in energy.
What to bring for mountain trekking?
In your backpack (for a day hike, usually 25/30L is recommended) you should bring:
Wear footwear suitable for the route and season. Trail surfaces can be uneven or rough, and a pair of hiking boots will protect you from sprains. A grassy slope, rock slab, or steep path can become dangerous when wet without proper footwear.
Finally... don’t forget your camera! It will be useful to capture the hike and the countless breathtaking views that Garda Trentino hides around every corner. If you want to share your memories with us, use the hashtag #GardaTrentino
