In the heart of the Adamello Brenta Natural Park with breathtaking views of the Dolomites and Adamello, along the splendid Val Algone up to the XII Apostoli Hut (2,847 m).
From a naturalistic point of view, Val d'Algone presents an extraordinary richness of tree, shrub and herbaceous species. The fauna is varied and can enjoy large uncontaminated spaces: roe deer can be observed in the valley bottom and at the edges of the many clearings, chamois frequent the rocky slopes of Cima Vallon and the Castello dei Camosci, in Val di Sacco the marmot is easily encountered.

Difficulty: E (hiking)
From Stenico by car, take the provincial road towards Ragoli. It is worth stopping in this stretch to admire the Rio Bianco waterfall. Continuing towards Ragoli you reach the Lisàn bridge, near which is the fork for the Val d'Algone. After about 7 kilometers of paved road you arrive at the Ghedina hut (m. 1120), where you can see the remains of an old glassworks from the last century; the valley opens up at this point offering beautiful meadows dominated by the imposing Vallon massif (m. 2968), which offers great opportunities for the mountaineer and demanding naturalist, but at the price of complicated and very tiring approaches. Continuing through meadows and huts you reach the Albergo Brenta, where the road turns into dirt: from this point on, access to the valley is limited and allowed to a maximum of 50 vehicles per day with a toll payment of € 6.00.
From Albergo Brenta our road continues climbing halfway up, passing the edge of the Vallon meadow basin and then through Malga Nambi (open during summer and a refreshment point) and Malga Stablei, shortly after which the view opens up towards the glaciers of Carè Alto and Presanella.
With some hairpin bends you reach the southern edge of the Movlina pasture where the parking lot is located. Leaving the car, you quickly reach the stunning balcony of Malga Movlina (m. 1746 - open from mid-June to mid-September), from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Presanella and Brenta. From here continue following the SAT 354 path leading to Passo del Gotro (1847 m) and then to Passo Bregn da l'Ors (1836 m), from where you can admire Valagola from above with its splendid lake (30 minutes). From Bregn da l’Ors continue to the right along path SAT 307, descend to Pian di Nardis (1822 m) and after passing a rocky area equipped with fixed ropes called "Scala Santa", continue on the steep scree slope. After overcoming some other easy rocks, you reach the XII Apostoli hut (2487 m) in about 2.30 hours. Next to the hut is the famous Chapel dedicated to the Mountain Fallen, carved into the rock. To return, you can retrace the way you came up or head towards Val di Sacco by taking path SAT 341 which climbs from the hut to Passo dei XII Apostoli, then descends on debris with frequent bends to Busa di Sacco and then to Baito dei Cacciatori (1800 m). Continuing on path 341 and with a magnificent view of Val d'Algone, you cut across the southern slopes of Pala dei Mughi to return to the pastures of Malga Movlina (1.45 hours).
There is no public transport service to reach Malga Movlina.

Mountain hikes require specific clothing and equipment. Even for relatively short and easy outings, it is always better to be well equipped to avoid unpleasant surprises and to face unforeseen events such as a sudden storm or a drop in energy.
What to bring for a mountain trek?
In the backpack (for a day hike, a 25/30L one is usually recommended) it is good to bring:
Wear footwear suitable for the route and season. The walking surface of the trails can be uneven or rough, and a pair of boots will protect you from sprains. A grassy slope, a rock slab or a steep path, if wet, can become dangerous without appropriate footwear.
Finally... do not forget the camera! It will be useful to capture the hike and the countless breathtaking views that Garda Trentino hides around every corner. If you want to share your memories with us you can use the hashtag #GardaTrentino
