Safety Tips

1. Choose routes based on your physical and technical abilities, researching the area to visit, the trail usability, and carrying the appropriate hiking map.
2. Provide yourself with clothing and equipment suitable for the effort and length of the hike and carry in your backpack the necessary items for potential emergency situations and a first aid kit.
3. It is advisable not to hike alone in the mountains. In any case, inform someone about the itinerary you plan to take, announcing your return.
4. Check weather forecasts and constantly observe the weather development.
5. If in doubt, turn back. Sometimes it is better to give up rather than find yourself in difficulty due to bad weather or attempting challenges beyond your strength, skills, or equipment.
6. Avoid unnecessarily leaving the trail and taking shortcuts.
7. All the listed routes develop in a natural environment. Hiking them means accepting the risk of practicing a sport in nature.

From the church square we first follow Via XXI luglio and then Via Tovi. At the fork, we take the right road towards the locality Derco and the farmstead La Dasa. We continue on this little road, first among the houses, then in the woods and finally along the stream. We leave behind two little bridges and reach the intersection with trail SAT 459, which we take. We follow the trail and then take the dirt road on the right that branches off from a large hairpin bend and leads to the viewpoint. To return downhill, we take the small path that descends to the left at the edge of the fence and rejoins the paved road in locality Derco.

The Ledro Valley is connected to Riva del Garda by the suburban bus line 214 (Riva-Valle di Ledro-Storo). The closest stop to the route is "Bezzecca Eurospin".

Mountain hikes require specific clothing and equipment. Even on relatively short and easy outings, it is always better to be well equipped to avoid unpleasant surprises and to face unexpected events such as a sudden storm or a drop in energy.

What to bring for a mountain trek?

In the backpack (for a day hike a 25/30L pack is usually recommended) it is good to bring:

• water bottle (1L)
• snack (for example, dried fruit or chocolate)
• first aid kit
• windbreaker jacket
• a fleece sweater
• spare t-shirt and socks (preferably sealed in a plastic bag)
• worn or at least brought in the backpack a pair of long pants
• hat
• sunscreen
• sunglasses
• gloves
• whistle to be found in case of emergency

Wear footwear suitable for the route and the season. The trail surfaces can be uneven or rough and a pair of hiking boots will protect you from sprains. A grassy slope, a rock slab or a steep path, if wet, can become dangerous without suitable footwear.
