Alex Bellini combines storytelling, electronic music and visuals to explore how we understand the world
What does it really mean to understand a place, a story, the world around us? Do we need to experience it first-hand, like an explorer, or observe it, study it and preserve its memory, like a geographer?
Taking inspiration from The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Alex Bellini brings two different ways of engaging with reality to the stage. On one side is the explorer, who chooses to step into the unknown and experience places and situations directly. On the other is the geographer, who collects, organises and passes on knowledge, while often remaining at a greater distance from what is being studied.
Bellini’s storytelling is joined by the electronic music of Luca Lagash. Using field recordings, sounds from nature are transformed into an emotional soundscape that accompanies stories, characters and adventures.
On stage, books, a globe and a high-altitude tent become part of the narrative, together with a video installation that uses Artificial Intelligence to turn spoken words into dynamic typography and music into shapes and colours. Words, sound and images come together in a performance designed to engage the audience through different forms of expression.
