Original works by Benito Jacovitti arrive in Trentino with an exhibition that combines art, comics and reflection on the theme of peace.
From 10 to 25 July, Spazio Nemos in Bolognano di Arco hosts Cocco Bill against war!, promoted by the association Il Paradosso APS in collaboration with Emergency Trento.
Around 40 original panels by Jacovitti, one of the most iconic Italian comic artists of the twentieth century, are on display. Known for his unmistakable style, populated by surreal characters, intricate details and unexpected objects, he left a lasting mark on the Italian collective imagination. Among his most beloved creations is Cocco Bill, the cowboy protagonist of ironic and unconventional adventures.
Through the stories of Cocco Bill, the exhibition reflects on the themes of war and violence. Jacovitti’s satirical and irreverent language becomes a tool to question stereotypes and dynamics of domination, offering a perspective that remains relevant today on coexistence and peace.
The exhibition opens on Friday 10 July at 19:00, with the presence of curator Alessandro Santi, who will guide visitors through the works and Jacovitti’s artistic journey. An online connection with Silvia Jacovitti, the artist’s daughter, is also planned, sharing personal memories and insights.
On Saturday 18 July, a music evening dedicated to themes of peace is scheduled.
