At the beginning of Val Marcia in 1656, crosses were erected to keep witches and the evil eye away, who came out of Val Marcia bringing bad luck and damage to the village and the countryside.
A hike that does not present particular difficulties and is also suitable for trained young people and elderly people. The route reaches 1580 m altitude with some really steep trail sections. Val Marcia, located south of Bleggio and enclosed between Monte Altissimo and Monte Cogorna, is traversed by the Duina stream and its small tributaries. A wild valley presenting an unspoiled environment rich in many beauties.

Difficulty: E (hiking)
Leaving the vehicle in the center of Balbido, you go up the main road and, following the SAT 462 signposting to the left, you reach the last houses of the village. Then continue on the paved road until you reach the locality “Le Cross”, from where the forest road becomes unpaved and enters the woods, passes the chapel of the Holy Trinity, and arrives at “Livèz”. Go straight on to Malga Dablino and enter the valley proceeding along the left bank of the Duina stream. You cross the Torcòs stream and the Torcadìn stream, pass the “Acqua del Barbèr” spring, until at the locality “Jal demla Porcil” at an altitude of 1,250 m, continue crossing the Duina stream by ford and moving to the right side of the valley, on the slope of Monte Cogorna. Leaving the forest road, climb a steep path through the woods to the sources of the Duina. At this point, you can follow the steep road or the old path; both lead to Malga Dablino. From the aqueduct, enter the pastures of Malga Dablino (ruins) and then to the Bait dei Caciadori. Here there is only a narrow corner for possible shelter. The locality is wonderful: a grassy basin from which it is possible to admire the peaks of Val Marcia, Gavardina, Rodola, Altissimo, Cima Pala. The return is by the same route as the outward journey.
To shorten travel times, it is possible to follow the route by car up to the locality “Livèz”. In this case, the time in the table is reduced by about an hour.
Balbido is connected to other Garda Trentino centers by suburban bus lines 211 (Riva del Garda - Tenno - Fiavè - Ponte Arche) and 210 (Ponte Arche-S.Croce-Cavrasto-Bivedo).

From Ponte Arche/Comano Terme follow the signs for Bleggio Superiore - Balbido (8 km).
Free parking in Balbido along the road.
Mountain hikes require specific clothing and equipment. Even for relatively short and easy outings, it is always better to be well equipped to avoid unpleasant surprises and to cope with unforeseen events such as a sudden storm or a drop in energy.
What to bring for mountain trekking?
In the backpack (for a day hike, a 25/30L pack is usually recommended), it is good to bring:
Wear footwear suitable for the route and the season. Trail surfaces can be uneven or rough, and a pair of hiking boots will protect you from twists. A grassy slope, a rock slab, or a steep path, if wet, can become dangerous without proper footwear.
Finally... don’t forget the camera! It will be useful to capture the hike and the countless breathtaking views that Garda Trentino hides around every corner. If you want to share your memories with us, you can use the hashtag #GardaTrentino
