Just outside the centre of Mori, along the Adige-Garda cycle path, you’ll find the remains of the San Biagio Church. Today, the bell tower is the most visible element, but the site still reflects nearly a thousand years of history.
The church dates back to the second half of the 11th century. In the following centuries it was expanded with a second nave and decorated with frescoes, now preserved at the Buonconsiglio Castle. Between the 15th and 16th centuries, it reached its final layout, including structural changes that also altered its orientation.
From the late 18th century onwards, the church gradually fell into disuse. It was damaged during the First World War and almost completely destroyed by a bombing in 1944. Restoration works in the 1970s made the remaining structures visible again, especially the bell tower.
Today, it’s an unusual stop along the cycle path: an open site where you can read its history directly in the landscape.
