Handmade notebooks, illustrations and creative bookbinding

Paper, thread, colours and images become tools for telling a journey, preserving a memory or bringing an imagined adventure to life. In this creative workshop, each participant will make a personal object while experimenting with bookbinding, collage, painting and visual storytelling techniques.

The morning and afternoon activities are different but complementary. You can choose one workshop or join both sessions for a richer and more complete creative experience.

Morning workshop

What you’ll do
You will make a small handmade notebook to use as a travel journal, a collection of memories or a space for sketches, words and images. Using different types of paper, simple stitching, collage and illustration materials, you will create a unique and personal object in which to record thoughts and preserve your stories.

• Thursday 27 and Friday 28 August:
• Morning workshop: from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm

Afternoon workshop

What you’ll do
You will create an object that combines contemporary bookbinding with abstract painting. You will build a multi-level concertina structure with visible stitching and pages in different shapes, sizes and thicknesses, ready for experimenting with colour, graphic marks and writing.

• Thursday 27 and Friday 28 August:
• Afternoon workshop: from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm

3 hours per workshop.

Civic Library, newspaper room.

INFO & FAQ

• Who is it for: teenagers aged 11 and over, and adults.
• Maximum number of participants: 10 people per session.
• Price: €10.00 per person, per workshop.
• The price includes: all materials required for the activity.
• Tools used: awls, needles and other tools that require care and a certain level of manual dexterity.
• Workshops: the morning activity is different from the afternoon one. Participants may attend both sessions.
• Booking: required.
