The collaboration between the museums of Arco and St. Moritz continues with a new exhibition project dedicated to Giovanni Segantini, one of the leading painters of the late 19th century.
Following the success of the exhibition in Bassano del Grappa, the show retraces the artist’s entire career.
The exhibition features a carefully curated selection of works from the collections of Arco and Engadin, complemented by private loans, offering a broad and comprehensive overview of Segantini’s production.
The exhibition begins with works from the 1880s, including pieces from the Navigli series such as Portrait of a Woman in Via San Marco.
It continues with works from the Brianza period, particularly drawings, and then focuses on the Swiss period, highlighted by the painting Autumn Sun.
A dedicated section presents engravings based on Segantini’s works, created by his sons Gottardo and Mario, recently added to the civic collection and now displayed to the public for the first time.
The exhibition represents the first stage of a shared project that will continue in St. Moritz, bringing the Arco collection abroad and highlighting one of the most significant Segantini collections at a national level.
