The Festival of Sacred Music celebrates its 55th edition with two prestigious events in Santa Croce del Bleggio and Riva del Garda, offering the audience a musical journey through centuries of spirituality and beauty.
The first concert, hosted in the evocative baroque church of Santa Croce del Bleggio, features the choir “La Sorgente”, conducted by Erica Eccli, accompanied by cello, lute and organ. The program presents an anthology of sacred music from the Renaissance to the present day, designed to enhance the architectural setting of the church and create a deep dialogue between music and sacred space.
The second event will be a major symphonic-vocal concert in Riva del Garda, featuring the performance of Gaetano Donizetti’s Requiem Mass, part of the project “The Other Face of the Sacred”, dedicated to exploring sacred music composed by great Italian opera composers.
The orchestral part will be performed by I Filarmonici di Trento, an ensemble founded in 1999 with the aim of offering young musicians and music lovers a shared, high-level experience of the classical repertoire, combining passion, discipline and artistic commitment. The solo vocal parts will be performed by the singers of Voci all’Opera (SMAG – Riva del Garda), joined by two renowned choirs: the In Dulci Jubilo Choir of the Diocesan Institute of Trento and the St. Maximilian Choir of Munich. The result will be a rich soundscape that brings together local sensitivity and an international dimension. The concert will take place in the Church of San Giuseppe, an ideal venue to host a large ensemble of approximately 80 choristers and 54 instrumentalists.
Composed in 1835 in memory of Vincenzo Bellini, Donizetti’s Requiem Mass blends liturgical solemnity with the dramatic and melodic language typical of early Romanticism, offering the audience an intense and deeply moving musical experience.
