Maroni of Garda Trentino

An ancient fruit, a tradition that lives on

Every autumn, in the chestnut groves of Campi, Drena, Tenno, Arco and Nago, locals harvest the maroni – the area’s prized chestnuts – following age-old customs. The most famous come from Campi and Drena and are now De.Co. certified. The harvest is done strictly by hand and followed by the novena: nine days of cold water immersion to select only the best fruit. This traditional method preserves their quality and enhances their flavour. Each tree yields around 30 kg of chestnuts, but it’s the care that makes all the difference. From forest to table, the maroni of Garda Trentino are autumn’s true taste of tradition.
