Safety Tips

1. Choose routes based on your physical and technical abilities, researching the area to visit, the trail conditions, and equipping yourself with an adequate hiking map.
2. Provide appropriate clothing and equipment according to the commitment and length of the hike and carry in your backpack what is needed for emergency situations and a first aid kit.
3. It is advisable not to hike alone in the mountains. In any case, tell someone your planned itinerary and notify them of your return.
4. Check the weather forecast and constantly observe weather developments.
5. If in doubt, turn back. Sometimes it is better to give up than to face difficulties due to bad weather or attempting difficulties beyond your strength, skills, or equipment.
6. Avoid unnecessarily leaving the trail and taking shortcuts.
7. All listed routes develop in a natural environment. Hiking them means accepting the risks of practicing a sport in nature.

We enter the village and take Via Rabaglia. We take the SAT 454 trail and follow it to the saddle of Monte Cocca. We make a small detour to enjoy the view from the top of Monte Cocca and return to the saddle. We take the path through the woods and descend to the locality Alla Valle, just above Mezzolago. We turn left and climb along the forest road towards Dromaè. Before reaching the Coste di Salò, we take the small path on the right that descends towards the Madonnina di Besta. We continue and upon reaching the asphalt road we turn left and continue along the mule track until we join the SAT 451 trail. We take the descending trail, pass the sanctuary of Madonna de le ferle and reach Barcesino, a district of Molina. From Molina, we can return to the lake following the cycle-pedestrian path.

The Ledro Valley is connected to Riva del Garda by the extra-urban bus line 214 (Riva-Valle di Ledro-Storo).

Mountain hikes require specific clothing and equipment. Even on relatively short and easy outings, it is always better to be well equipped to avoid unpleasant surprises and to face unexpected events such as a sudden thunderstorm or a drop in energy.

What to bring for a mountain trek?

In your backpack (for a daily hike, a 25/30L one is normally recommended) it is good to bring:

• water bottle (1L)
• snacks (for example, dried fruit or chocolate)
• first aid kit
• windbreaker jacket
• a fleece sweater
• spare t-shirt and socks (preferably packed in a plastic bag)
• wear or at least carry a pair of long pants in your backpack
• cap
• sunscreen
• sunglasses
• gloves
• whistle to be found in case of emergency

Wear footwear suitable for the route and season. The trail surface can be uneven or rough and a pair of hiking boots will protect you from sprains. A grassy slope, rock slab, or steep path, when wet, can become dangerous without proper footwear.
