Planting of the Fragrant Ladybells on Monte Tremalzo

A day dedicated to biodiversity conservation and the reintroduction of the Fragrant Ladybells (Adenophora liliifolia), a rare Alpine plant species currently threatened with extinction.
This initiative is part of the European Life SeedForce project, coordinated by MUSE – the Science Museum of Trento, which aims to improve the conservation status of 29 endangered Alpine plant species protected under the Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC).
The project involves 76 Natura 2000 sites and works to restore balance, life and future to habitats that are essential for Alpine biodiversity.
The Fragrant Ladybells is a rare herbaceous plant that grows in warm, sunny woodland clearings on limestone soils. It requires open habitats with full sun or partial shade and is highly sensitive to the encroachment of forests, shrubs and dense vegetation.
On Monte Tremalzo, the species was last recorded in 1997 in the Val Lorina gorge, where only a few specimens were found. Since then, the population has not been confirmed and is now considered extinct in this area.
Through this activity, we aim to actively support its reintroduction by planting new specimens and contributing to a broader habitat restoration and biodiversity conservation project.

Meeting point at the Lago d’Ampola parking area, where participants can leave their cars. From there, we will organise shared transport with as few vehicles as possible to reach the intervention site, about a 20-minute drive away.
