Hike on the Banale side, in the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park; on vast stretches of meadow, steep slopes furrowed by ancient trails, our “explorer” will find themselves almost magically in beautiful and solitary places, to discover calmly and slowly, in peace with themselves and nature.
Monte Valandro, commonly called by locals "El mont de Stenech" (mountain of Stenico), overlooks the villages of Stenico, Seo and Sclemo. A powerful and impressive mountain, barren and exposed to the sun all day.
Until 1970 this area was used for artillery military exercises that had their base camp in Fiavè and Val Lomasona.

Difficulty: E (hiking)
Park the car near the little church of Seo, located on the slopes of Monte Valandro, where trail SAT 348 starts, ascending partly along the old mule track with deep grooves carved into the pavement by sledges that transported hay down from the Valandro and Brugnol meadows.
The path climbs steeply through sunny woods covering the southern foothills of the Brenta group; at the end of the forest road, proceed along a mule track which, after passing “Caputel de Vessa”, overcomes some rocky ledges reaching the locality “I Salti”.
After “I Salti”, the mule track enters the vast meadows of Valandro, leaving to the left trail 346 coming from Stenico and Capitèl de la Spina, continue to ascend via trail 348 through steep slopes toward Malga Valandro, leaving the Benigni hut on the right hilltop. After crossing a small pass, the path follows the natural undulation of the land until reaching Malga Valandro, recently restored, located in a wide green basin. From the hut the path would continue towards Malga Asblez, in Val di Jon, and from there to the refuges Agostini and Al Cacciatore. Return is along the same route.
Monte Valandro, commonly called by locals “El Mont de Sténech” (mountain of Stenico), overlooks the villages of Stenico, Seo, and Sclemo. A powerful and imposing mountain, barren and exposed to the sun all day, behind and extending from which lies the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park and the Brenta Group. Viewed from the valley floor, beyond the initial rocky ledges, it shows an extensive and steep slope of green meadows, once mown and now left free for sheep grazing.
Return by the same route.
Seo is connected to other Garda Trentino centers by suburban bus lines 211 (Riva del Garda - Tenno - Fiavè - Ponte Arche) and 208 (Ponte Arche-San Lorenzo in Banale-Molveno).
Up-to-date information on timetables and routes is available here and on the Trentino Trasporti website.
From Ponte Arche/Comano Terme continue by car toward Stenico and from there follow signs to Seo until the square (6 km).
Free parking in Piazza Pietro Parolari in Seo.
Mountain hikes require specific clothing and equipment. Even for relatively short and easy outings, it is always better to be well equipped to avoid unpleasant surprises and to handle unforeseen events such as a sudden storm or loss of energy.
What to bring for a mountain trek?
In your backpack (for a day hike usually a 25/30L is recommended) it is good to carry:
Wear footwear suitable for the route and season. The trail surface can be uneven or rough, and a pair of boots will protect you from sprains. A grassy slope, a rock slab or a steep path, if wet, can become dangerous without proper footwear.
Finally... don’t forget the camera! It will serve to capture the hike and the countless breathtaking views that Garda Trentino hides at every corner. If you want to share your memories with us you can use the hashtag #GardaTrentino
