A fairly challenging route that winds through the villages and the green mountains of the Gresta Valley.
Signage: 1912. Monte Biaena Trail - Route
Park your car in the village of Ronzo-Chienis and then hop on your bike following signs first to Passo Bordala and then to Rifugio Somator. The route mainly develops on paved roads, with a medium difficulty level, about 600 meters of elevation gain. Once you reach Rifugio Somator you can enjoy the silence of the surrounding mountains and recharge your energy to return to the starting point pedaling for a short stretch still uphill before enjoying the descent and riding a last flat stretch back to the car.
Rifugio Somator is the ideal spot to enjoy a well-deserved rest among the green peaks of the Gresta Valley before facing the descent.
ITRS - International Trail Rating System
ITRS is an objective methodology to classify routes and trails from the biker’s perspective evaluating four aspects:
· Technical difficulty: skill level required
· Shape: combined effect of length, ascent, and descent
· Wilderness factor: necessary planning considering phone reception, rescue options, water supply, and wildlife
· Exposure: consequences of a potential fall

The first section of the route, the one from Ronzo-Chienis passing through the meadows of Passo Bordala to lead us to Rifugio Somator, represents the main climb of this route. Once you reach Rifugio Somator, it’s time to recharge! Then you start again and travel a stretch of ascent before beginning the descent, which will then wind through a wooded section before returning to the paved road and the last steep stretch that will lead us back to the starting point.
The Gresta Valley area is reachable from other Garda Trentino centers via the extra-urban bus line 332 (Rovereto - Mori - Riva del Garda - Arco - Bolognano).
Once you arrive at Mori stop, you can catch the connecting bus that will take you to the historic center of Ronzo-Chienis via the extra-urban line 310 (Rovereto - Mori - S. Felice - Ronzo Chienis), alternatively we suggest continuing by bike shuttle that will take you to Ronzo.
Ronzo-Chienis Parking
Rides on your bike require specific clothing and equipment. Even on relatively short and easy outings, it is always better to be well equipped to avoid unpleasant surprises and to face unforeseen events such as, for example, a sudden storm or a drop in energy: even the unexpected is part of the fun!
Also remember to carefully evaluate the type of route you are tackling, the locations you plan to cross, and the current season. Has it rained? Be careful! The trails will be more slippery and therefore you need to be more cautious.
