In a remarkably short span of time, Matteo Mancuso has garnered global recognition as a guitar prodigy. His exceptional technique and precision captivate audiences, effortlessly traversing diverse musical genres. In 2017, he founded the jazz-rock and fusion trio “SNIPS” alongside Salvatore Lima on drums and Riccardo Oliva on bass. Their dynamic performances have garnered widespread acclaim at esteemed international festivals and events like Musikmesse Frankfurt, Umbria Jazz, and NAMM 2019 in Los Angeles. Notably, their rendition of “The Chicken” has received over a million views.
In 2020, Matteo formed a new trio featuring Stefano India on bass and Giuseppe Bruno on drums, showcasing his compositional prowess with original compositions. Graduating with honours and an honourable mention in jazz guitar from the Palermo Conservatory of Music in June 2022, he resumed touring and had the honour of performing a duet with Al di Meola on classical guitar during the closing night of the Eddie Lang Jazz Festival. In August, Matteo played at the prestigious Lugano Estival Jazz with PFM and the New Ross Guitar Festival in Ireland. In September 2022, he was invited as a guest on Stefano Bollani's RAI program, “Via dei Matti No. 0”. In addition, he graced the Uppsala Jazz Festival in Sweden on 13 October and opened Spoleto Jazz Festival.
Al Di Meola described him as: “An absolute talent. It would take two or three lifetimes for me to match his improvisational skills on the guitar”. Steve Vai remarked that: “Musicians like Matteo Mancuso embody the evolution of the guitar, showcasing superior tone, precision in touch, and note selection”.
