Sentinel looking over the city
The Torre Apponale, which is 34 metres tall, appears to peacefully observe the incessant toing and froing of people on Piazza III Novembre. Documented as early as in the 13th century, the Torre’s purpose was, above all, to watch over and defend the city. If you look closely, you’ll see a golden glimmering above the roof: it is the Anzolim de la Tor, a gilded wind vane in the shape of an angel that has become one of the symbols of Riva del Garda.
Today the Tower is open to visitors and those who do not fear the 165 stairs are rewarded by an inimitable panorama of the centre and Lake Garda. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance of the Tower.
