An initiative by CONI in collaboration with the Province of Trento, APT, and MAG in anticipation of the 2026 Olympic Games.
The event will take place simultaneously at iconic locations along the Path of Peace, delivering a message of peace in view of the Olympic Truce period leading up to the Games.
The Path of Peace is a hiking trail that stretches from the Marmolada to the Adamello, following the front line of the First World War, when Trentino was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
The route offers panoramic views as it ascends the ridge of Monte Brione, a curious crescent-shaped hill where the Austro-Hungarian Empire built four forts to guard the access points to the Upper Garda area.
The meeting point with the guides and mid-mountain leaders is at Porto San Nicolò, near the fort of the same name. Here begins the trail, initially a bit steep, consisting of irregular steps, but offering stunning views of the lake amidst Mediterranean vegetation. After about 20 minutes, participants reach Forte Garda, a reinforced concrete structure that could house up to 200 men. Here, the Cima D’Oro Choir and a MAG historian will welcome participants with traditional mountain songs and anecdotes from the First World War.
At the stroke of noon, the hike continues toward Batteria di Mezzo, located near the summit of Monte Brione.
The hike to Batteria di Mezzo takes approximately one hour, covering a distance of 2 km (plus 2 km return) with an elevation gain of 270 meters. Return is along the same trail.
