The Biodistrict is the characterization of an area that identifies organic farming as the core of rural development and promotes it by bringing together virtuous experiences in production, consumption, and land management, while involving the entire community. It serves as a powerful testing ground for applying sustainability in its full sense, and organic farming—embraced in its complete meaning—is the essential tool to achieve this vision.
The Biodistrict of the Valle dei Laghi was established in 2014 through the initiative of local institutions, cooperatives, and private citizens, with the aim of promoting, protecting, and disseminating the organic production method as a model for the sustainable management of resources.
On the occasion of the National Day of Agricultural and Food Biodiversity, held on May 20, the Biodistrict of the Valle dei Laghi, the Office for Organic Production, the Rural Development Policy Service of the Province, and the Toblino Winery are organizing a series of events aimed at raising community awareness of the importance of preserving and promoting the diversity of crops and agricultural ecosystems. Biodiversity is an essential component of ecosystems, and it can be said that the well-being of current and future generations largely depends on its protection.
