Triple Date with Gustav Mahler’s Fifth Symphony for the Opening of MusicaRivaFestival 2025
Gustav Mahler’s monumental Fifth Symphony will open the 2025 edition of MusicaRivaFestival with three unmissable events on July 18.
At 10:00 am, at the San Giuseppe Auditorium in Riva del Garda, there will be an open dress rehearsal dedicated to young people under 35 — a valuable opportunity to engage with orchestral language and experience firsthand the creative process behind a major performance.
In the afternoon, at 5:30 pm, at Palazzo San Francesco, a seminar will be held exploring the life and work of Gustav Mahler, offering insight into the historical, artistic, and human context that gave rise to one of the most emotionally powerful masterpieces in the symphonic repertoire. The seminar will be followed by an aperitif featuring local products.
At 9:00 pm, again at the San Giuseppe Auditorium, the Orchestra delle Alpi will perform the Fifth Symphony under the baton of the young and talented conductor Luka Hauser — a rising star on the European music scene, already acclaimed in major concert halls for his interpretative sensitivity and clear conducting style.
An undisputed masterpiece of late-Romantic symphonism, Mahler’s Fifth is an emotionally intense journey, known to the wider public for its famous Adagietto — a page for strings and harp immortalized by Luchino Visconti in the film Death in Venice.
A powerful and engaging start to a festival edition that promises to be extraordinary.
