A hike suitable for everyone in the woods of Monte Mezzana, between the villages of Terlago and Covelo.
The walk to Monte Mezzana starts at the 'Lagostel' fishing pond and runs for 6.5 km on a mixture of forest road and path.  The route does not present any particular difficulties and the altitude gain is fairly gentle. During the hike, you are always in a forest, so there’s a good chance of spotting animals such as roe deer, squirrels and badgers.  The road is very easy to follow and well-signposted.

Safety guidelines
Please note: the route is also used by mountain bikes both uphill and downhill.

The information on this chart is subject to inevitable variations, so this means that none of the indications are absolute. It is not entirely possible to avoid giving inexact or imprecise information, given how quickly environmental and weather conditions can change. For this reason, we decline any responsibility for changes which the user may encounter. In any case, the hiker is advised to check the conditions of the places, environment and weather before setting out.

Directions
From the Craft Area in Terlago, at the 'Lagostel' sports fishing pond, the hike begins along a forest road. From here, follow the signs that read "Giro del Monte Mezzana” (tour of Monte Mezzana). At a certain point the forest road ends, to make way for a downhill path towards the S.S. 45bis road, which you follow for a few metres following the cycle path in the direction of Vezzano.  At the crossroads with the "Giro del Monte Mezzana” sign, continue in the direction of Covelo, until you reach the opposite side of the mountain.  Then climb up through the forest to join the last part of the route and return to the "Lagostel" pond.
public transportation
Terlago is connected by regional buses.

From Riva del Garda:

  • Bus line 205 (Riva del Garda - Trento) until Cadine

How to get there

After passing the village of Terlago, continue in the direction of Covelo until you reach the Craft Area.

Where to park
There are two free parking options at the Craft Area: the first is at the start and the second is at the 'Lagostel' fishing pond.

If you want to start the route from the village of Terlago, you can park for free in Via A. Degasperi.

You need to be wearing the right clothing and take the proper gear when you go hiking in the mountains. Even on relatively short easy outings make sure to take all you need so you don't run into trouble if things take an unexpected turn, for example a storm blows up or you have a sudden drop in energy levels.

What should you take when you go on a hike?

What you should have in your rucksack (for a day trip a 25/30L capacity should do):

  • water canteen (1L)
  • snacks (e.g. mixed dried fruit or chocolate)
  • First aid kit
  • windproof jacket
  • fleece
  • change of t-shirt and socks (in a plastic bag)
  • make sure to wear or at least bring a pair of long trousers
  • hat
  • sun screen
  • sunglasses
  • gloves
  • whistle to attract attention in an emergency

Emergency telephone number Mountain Rescue 112

Make sure you're wearing the right footwear for the trail and season. The going can get rough and rocky underfoot and a pair of hiking boots will protect you from sprains.

When wet, a grassy slope, rocky slab or steep trail can be dangerous unless you are wearing the proper footwear.

And finally... ... don't forget to bring your camera! You'll need it to capture the stunning views you come across all over Garda Trentino. And if you like, you can share your memories with us at #GardaTrentino.
