Did you know that not far from Arco there is a forest?
During this beautiful walk we will set off together from Arco, and once past the olive groves of S.Martino, and with our nose pointing upwards we will notice many climbers on the overhanging rocks of the historical climbing crag of Massone Policromuro, one of the most famous climbing areas in Arco. On foot we will head up to the crags to discover the caves of oolite, a soft sedimentary rock easy for sculptors to work on, creating works of art from stone dating back to the beginning of the XX century. We are now inside the Caproni forest. It is a wood of holly oak trees (Mediterranean oak tree), one of the few found at this latitude, thanks to the warm climate and the winds of Lake Garda. Here you will also find the largest and most fascinating caves of oolite, we can visit them inside and then set off to discover the “whale’s back” and trenches from the First World War. The view overlooking the Sarca Valley with its overhanging rock faces and the ruins of the mining houses finish off our tour!
