Directions

Bivedo – Larido – Marazzone – Cavaione – Rango – Acqua Santa spring – Larido – Up till Cengledel – Bivedo – Duvredo – Bivedo

The route joins historical paths, which have connected the Bleggio villages since medieval times. It starts from the church of Bivedo and takes you past Larido to Marazzone [1]. After 600 m, turn right and start climbing. After 1 km cross the pass [2] and turn right after 90 m. At the junction in the forest [3 – 1.3 km, 858 m] turn left, pass a single house and a ford. At the next T-junction [4 – 1.6 km, 867 m] turn left and left again after 90 m. Take a small path and descend easily along a nicely built granite wall. The path joins a tarmaced road near a hotel. Turn left and follow the road until you reach the main road [5 – 2.3 km, 796 m] where you have to make a right turn. 120 m further, just before the bend at the bar and restaurant Castelliere, take the village path down to Cavaione and then, keep on the right. Turn right again at the fountain of the village, [6] so that you will reach Rango [7] on minor roads. In Rango (3.5 km, 796 m), turn right, and cycle uphill to the village. After having passed an arch, continue climbing through the village towards Duron pass. (You will pass again point 4 of the route). After 5.1 kilometres you will reach a crossing with a board (If you cycle straight ahead, you extend the tour on to the Duron pass). If not, turn right and descend on a gentle trail; when you reach a gravelled path, turn left and immediately right to join up again the main road [9], which you will cross straight ahead. (An easier alternative is turning to the left and to the right at the hairpin bend). A steep descent will take you to Larido [10]. At the beginning of Larido (6.6 km, 803 m), turn left and climb a very steep gravelled path. You might “want” to cycle later on for about 200 m, before turning right on a nice gravelled street [11- 6.8 km, 856 m]. Pass a crossing with a house on the right [12] near loc. Cengledel and keep right. In a nice and easy descent you will reach Bivedo. Here the tour ends, but it might be extended with two alternativs. Keep left at the first crossing (8.0 km, 775 m) in Bivedo [13], and leave the village descending to Duvredo. There is a right hairpin bend and soon a T-junction [14]. Turn right and cycle uphill to the starting point at the church. (Or turn left at the T-Junction (14) for an additional circle including Duvredo [15] and S. Croce). Follow the main road in S. Croce [16] on the right until shortly after Madice [17], where you have to climb the steep farm track to Bivedo.

Riding your bike requires specific clothing and equipment, even for relatively short and easy trips. It is always better to be prepared… e.g. for bad weather or a sudden drop in your energy levels. The unexpected things are part of the fun!

Remember to thoroughly evaluate the type of route you plan on doing, the locations you intend to cross and the current season. Has it been raining? Attention: The paths may be slippery and require more caution.

What do I need to bring on my bike tour?

  • An adequate water supply according to your needs (considering temperature, possibility of refuelling and duration of the route)
  • Plenty of snacks (for example, dried fruit or energy bars)
  • Waterproof / Windproof jacket
  • A spare top / spare socks (Descending in a sweaty garment, will make you cold).
  • Suncream
  • Sunglasses
  • Bike gloves/mitts
  • Map or GPS device
  • Bike lights: best placed on your helmet or handlebars. (It is always best to be prepared)
  • Bike repair kit for punctures and mechanical breakdowns
  • First aid kit
  • Emergency whistle

It is always advised to let someone know where you plan to go and how long you expect to be.

Emergency telephone number 112.
