Ponte Arche – Campo Lomaso – Poia – Ponte Balandin – Villa Banale – Premione – Ponte Arche

The route starts from the car park in Ponte Arche (opposite to bar Al Pont, on the main road, after the bridge) where you have to go south, towards the spring. When you arrive on the main road [3], turn left and follow it uphill to Campo Lomaso. After the 2nd left hairpin bend [4] leave the main road and join the tarmaced secondary road on the right hand side to Campo Lomaso. At the crossing near the cemetery [5], turn left to the centre of the town. Follow the main road [6] for about 300 m in the direction of Vigo Lomaso. Then turn left, in the direction of Poia [7]. Follow the cart-track to Poia, leave Hotel Fiore [10] behind, cross the main road [11] and take the tarmaced cart-track on the right of the Coop [Famiglia Cooperativa,[12], dir. Ponte Balandin and Villa Banale. When you reach the highly frequented country road [14], turn right, follow the road and turn left after 700 m [15]. Now take the signposted hiking trail to Balandin bridge (attention please: you have to cross the road!). Cross the new pedestrian bridge, which is the lowest point of the tour [17], turn left and climb the serpentine bends. A few metres before, the road hits the main road [18]; there is a very steep cart-track on the right which leads directly through the wood to Villa Banale. This track becomes better and less steep at the end. Near Villa Banale you will reach the main road again [19], turn left and immediately right [20] towards the village and the church on the hill. Afterwards turn right [21], pass the church and cycle uphill on the parallel path to the main road. After exactly 1 km you will reach a junction with three paths [22], where you have to choose the left one. It is now that you meet up with the DBB-track for 2 km dir. Premione [23]. Cross the main road and take the cart-track near the church that will lead you straight ahead down the hill to Ponte Arche. You will reach the main road [25], then turn left and continue downhill, going back to Ponte Arche. At the bridge cross the Sarca river [26], turn left to the park, cross the roofed wooden pedestrian bridge [27], pass an ice cream parlour [28] and the town hall [29], and cycle back to the point of departure.

The area around Comano is connected by the intercity bus lines 211 (Riva del Garda - Tenno - Fiavè - Ponte Arche) and 201 (Trento - Ponte Arche - Campiglio – Tione) to the other places in Garda Trentino.

Riding your bike requires specific clothing and equipment, even for relatively short and easy trips. It is always better to be prepared… e.g. for bad weather or a sudden drop in your energy levels. The unexpected things are part of the fun!

Remember to thoroughly evaluate the type of route you plan on doing, the locations you intend to cross and the current season. Has it been raining? Attention: The paths may be slippery and require more caution.

What do I need to bring on my bike tour?

• An adequate water supply according to your needs (considering temperature, possibility of refuelling and duration of the route)
• Plenty of snacks (for example, dried fruit or energy bars)
• Waterproof / Windproof jacket
• A spare top / spare socks (Descending in a sweaty garment, will make you cold).
• Suncream
• Sunglasses
• Bike gloves/mitts
• Map or GPS device
• Bike lights: best placed on your helmet or handlebars. (It is always best to be prepared)
• Bike repair kit for punctures and mechanical breakdowns
• First aid kit
• Emergency whistle
