Lake Garda and the waterways of Garda Trentino offer fishing enthusiasts a range of diverse environments: from the largest lake in Italy to tiny bodies of water at the feet of the mountains, like Lake Ledro, and the River Sarca. You can fish for many species here: trout, chub, whitefish, tench, brown trout, barbel, pike, carp...

Fishing in Trentino has been liberalized by Provincial Law 11 July 2018, n. 12 and therefore no fishing license is required to fish in the part of Lake Garda located within the province of Trento. (Different provisions apply to the parts located within the provinces of Verona and Brescia). Fishing for eels and Lake Garda trout -Carpione- is however forbidden throughout the lake, all year round.

To fish in rivers and small lakes (Tenno, Cavedine, Ledro, and others) you need a daily or weekly pass issued by the local fishing association which you can buy in the tourist information offices in Riva del Garda, Arco, Torbole and Pieve di Ledro.
