STEFANO GHISOLFI
I chose Arco for climbing
“In Turin I had to leave home to practise sports, while here you are in an open-air gym.” That’s how Stefano Ghisolfi, climber from Turin and member of the Fiamme Oro—the sports group of the Italian police—describes his decision to move to Garda Trentino.
Born on 18 February 1993 and a graduate in Motor Sciences, Stefano first got into outdoor sports through mountain biking.
“I started out by following my dad, just for fun,” he recalls. “But when I was eleven, I swapped two wheels for a harness, carabiners and ropes. First climbing indoors, then moving to real rock.” It was that rock that brought him to Arco in 2016. “There’s something special in the air here—sport is really part of daily life.”
Stefano Ghisolfi is one of the strongest climbers Italy has ever seen. In Garda Trentino, he recently made the first ascent of Excalibur, a route graded 9b+: the hardest climb in Italy.
