Start from Passo Durone and follow the signs SAT 463 to Malga Stabio-Cima Sèra. The mountain road has steep and rocky sections and winds through a forest of conifers and broadleaf trees. After passing an image of Saint Anthony embedded in the rock face, you will arrive at Malga Stabio. The farmhouse is set in wide green pastures, with a watering trough in the center used by livestock during the alpine grazing season. The view is simply breathtaking, ranging from Carè Alto to Presanella and above them, to the east, Cima Sèra with its cross. Those who wish to climb Cima Sèra (1 hour and 20 minutes) must cross the pastures heading southeast, enter the forest, and reach Passo Piazzola, another spectacular viewpoint to admire Val Marcia with its peaks Dòss della Torta, Gavardina, and Cogorna. Here, the path turns left, crossing a beech forest to emerge onto open pastures and continue along the southern ridge of Cima Sèra. The panorama is truly magnificent, embracing all the peaks of Trentino from Adamello to Ortles, from the Brenta group to the Alps.
There is no public transport service to reach Passo Durone.
Follow signs for Passo Durone. About 10 km from Ponte Arche/Comano Terme.
Free parking at Passo Durone.
You need to wear the right clothing and carry the appropriate equipment when hiking in the mountains. Even on relatively short and easy outings, make sure to bring everything you need so you won’t be in trouble if the situation suddenly changes, for example if a storm breaks out or you experience a sudden drop in energy.
What should you bring when going on a hike?
Your backpack (for a day trip a capacity of 25/30L is sufficient) should contain:
Make sure to wear footwear suitable for the trail and season. The terrain can become rough and rocky and a pair of boots will protect against sprains. When wet, a grassy slope, a rock slab or a steep path can be dangerous if you don’t wear the right footwear.
And finally... don’t forget your camera! You’ll need it to capture the beautiful views you’ll encounter throughout Garda Trentino. And if you want, you can share your memories with us with #GardaTrentino.
