A short loop for everyone around one of the pearls of Trentino: Lake Tenno. Famous for its colour, it’s the ideal destination in every season.

This route is suited to a day of leisure and relaxation where a swim in the clear waters of Lake Tenno can be enjoyed. Or perhaps as a complement to one of the other route itineraries; 736, 737 or 739.
Much of the initial climbing develops along the main road that leads to the Ballino Pass. Despite the fact that the route starts out on the asphalt, the lake’s beauty can still be admired from afar. The gradients throughout vary but never exceed 10%. Then again, the climb to reach the forest in the Castil area requires a good effort! From here, you continue on an easy forest road through the woods, until you reach the beautiful Lake of Tenno. The descent has no particular difficulties except the terrain is sometimes a bit loose and there are two barriers to overcome on the sides of the road.

Directions

The route starts from the car park near to Lake Tenno. From here follow the main road towards Ballino Pass. When you reach the church at the village of Ballino, turn right following the route directions. Continue uphill towards the village of Castil: facing the most challenging climb of the route. The signposts for route 738 are always clear, and while coasting along the other side of the loop, the lake starts to become visible.

Shortly after passing it, staying on the easy forest path, you’ll reach an old road that leads to the village of 'Canale di Tenno’. If the day is clear from here you can see the mighty Lake Garda - to the right and the village, straight ahead. At the first junction turn right and, after a short gravel road, utilising the route signs, return to the starting point on a quiet side road.
